CURRENT GROUPS (Begin October 7)

Counter Culture by David Platt – Pete Anderton – Fellowship  Hall

Welcome to the front lines. Everywhere we turn, battle lines are being drawn. Seemingly overnight, culture has shifted to the point where right and wrong are no longer measured by universal truth but by popular opinion. And as difficult conversations continue to inject themselves into our workplaces, our churches, our schools, and our homes, Christians everywhere are asking the same question: How are we supposed to respond to all this? In Counter Culture, New York Times bestselling author David Platt shows Christians how to actively take a stand on such issues as poverty, sex trafficking, marriage, abortion, racism, and religious liberty―and challenges us to become passionate, unwavering voices for Christ.

Praying With Jesus by James Banks – Pat Rennau & Diane Jones – Room 108

The Bible says “the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective,” so what does it mean when prayers go unanswered? The Bible also tells us to “pray without ceasing,” but what does that look like in today’s fast-paced world? In this direct and personal series, James Banks tackles these questions, and many more, in 6 concise sessions. Biblical examples, from prayers of praise to “wrestling” prayers, reveal how prayer builds faith and brings people closer to the God of all creation. Paired with a thought-provoking study guide, Praying with Jesus is perfect for individuals, couples, families, and church groups.

Managing God’s Money by Randy Alcorn – Steve Vance – Room 102
God cares a great deal more about our money than most of us imagine. The sheer enormity of Scripture’s teaching on this subject screams for our attention. In fact, Jesus says more about how we are to view and handle money and possessions than about any other topic―including both heaven and hell. In Managing God’s Money, Randy Alcorn breaks down exactly what the Bible has to say about how we are to handle our money and posessions in a simple, easy-to-follow format. Filled with Scripture references, Managing God’s Money is the perfect reference tool for anyone who is interested in gaining a solid biblical understanding of money, possessions, and eternity.

Gospel of Mark – Roger Green – Room 200

This class is a Senior Adult ongoing Bible Study, but open to all other ages as well. The class meets for prayer, fellowship, hymns, and Bible study. During this Fall, they will begin to study the Gospel of Mark verse-by-verse. Each class member receives a notebook with handouts to supplement the study and discussion.

Bold by Joby Martin – Ken Roat – Teens

Teens want to be courageous and brave. In an era of superhero movies, they strive to be characterized by fearlessness, confidence, and power, like Captain America, Iron Man or Wonder Woman. But boldness is empty bravado when not used in the way God intended. In Bold, pastor Joby Martin uses Scripture to teach teens that their desires to be bold are not without a purpose. They were created to play a part in God’s redemptive work in the world and live courageously for the cause of God’s Kingdom. God has empowered teens to live a life of boldness—in their faith, with their words, to share the truth, and through prayer. Because our God is so powerful, teens who follow Christ can—and must—live boldly in the world.

James by Francis Chan – Marilyn Strickler (Wednesday Nights) – Room 102

True faith produces fruit. A faith without action and without life change is ultimately a dead faith. The book of James speaks to the realities of a living faith in Jesus-the kind of roll-up-your-sleeves and get-your-hands-dirty discipleship that is borne out of an authentic relationship with the risen Lord. James writes to believers who know suffering, who’ve faced trials, and who ultimately desire a deep relationship with God. Join other ladies as they open up the book of James to learn what it has to say to us today.

Vital Signs by Erwin McManus – Pastor Matt Oost (Wednesday Nights) – Room 108

How healthy are you? Eat right. Exercise. Many of us struggle to keep our bodies in shape. But are we really healthy? Our total health begins at the core of who we are … our spirit. Our spiritual health is linked directly to our emotional, physical and mental health. How healthy do you really think you are? In these four Bible study sessions, Erwin McManus teaches how we can reclaim our spiritual health by examining how our faith affects us physically, emotionally, and relationally.  Each session also features a real-life story or inspiring teaching clip.
